A new procedure for maintenance of the Red Book of the Russian Federation was adopted by the order of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia in May 2016, after that it was referred for registration to the Ministry of Justice of Russia, as it is reported on the official website of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation.

The document envisages a change in the mechanism for selection and referral of the flora and fauna objects to the Red Book of the Russian Federation. A share of responsibility of authorities has been enhanced both on the level of constituent units of the Russian Federation, and the federal authorities (the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Russian Federal Fisheries Agency, the Federal Forestry Agency, and the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage).

Ecological specialists announced today the possible reason for mass death of fish in the Kazanka River.
