A large-scale tree-planting campaign is to start in autumn 2013 in Nizhnekamsk. It is planned to plant a record-breaking amount of fir-trees, birches, and aspens. Dozens of streets and precincts will be improved. 

The IX All-Russian Field Olympiad of Young Geologists will take place in Kazan from August 1 till August 10. The best teams from 35 subjects of the Russian Federation as well as from Mongolia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will get together in the capital of Tatarstan. The Federal Subsoil Agency and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan act as organizers of the Olympiad.
