Ecological specialists announced today the possible reason for mass death of fish in the Kazanka River. The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, commented on the situation: "Starting August 1st, the work on control over the state of the Kazanka River has been enhanced. After receiving the information, we drew additional samples, and currently no chemical parameters in water have been exceeded. Suffocation of fish was registered not only in the Kazanka River, but also in certain other water bodies whereto no industrial waste is discharged. The main version that we adhere to is the heat wave. It could have promoted development of algae that release toxins while rotting, which caused mass death of fish.
