The International ecological marathon passed through Kazan. Participants of the ecological motor rally "Around the world in 80 days riding electrically propelled vehicles" were greeted today at the Agency of Investment Development. Moreover, a conference on environment protection, new energy sources and implementation of joint projects between Russia and China was held at the Agency of Investment Development of the Republic of Tatarstan. The main aim of the ecological tour is to promote the ideas of ecology, as well as to practically ascertain "global principles of nature protection and industrial ecology". "Modern tendencies for active development of territories pose point-blankthe problem of nature protection and industrial ecology. The relevant matters of air protection, conservation of water resources, recovery and processing of waste are currently discussed at various levels. Within the framework of the development strategy, Tatarstan strives to use progressive experience of other countries. With regard to transportation: within the following 2-3 years, it is planned to transfer 50% of public transportation fleet to gas and motor fuel", told the Head of the Agency of Investment Development of the Republic of Tatarstan, Taliya Minullina. Press Secretary of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Aygul Amirova acknowledged that not only has the industrial potential been developing lately, but the Republic also declares care for ecology and implements various programs that mainly aim at enhancement in ecological efficiency and solid protection of environment. "Our task is to ensure ecologically oriented economic growth", emphasized Aygul Amirova. She also acknowledged that motor vehicles represent one of the key sources of emission of pollutants into the air of the Republic of Tatarstan. In some cities of the Republic, emission of pollutants from motor transportation make up more than half of the total amount of emissions. One of the trends of activity on decrease of emissions from mobile sources implies transfer of motor vehicles to ecologically clean types of motor fuel, primarily, to the compressed natural gas. The use of natural gas instead of oil fuel allows to decrease emission of carbon oxide into the air - by 8 times, nitrogen oxides - by 2 times, hydrocarbons - by 3 times; meanwhile, emissions of soot are totally excluded, and the cars propelled by gas fully comply with the EURO-4 toxicity requirements.

Moreover, the use of gaseous propellant provides for non-admission of extraneous unauthorized interference into the feed system and the use of low-quality motor fuel. Aygul Amirova reminded that by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan created the Interdepartmental working group on expansion of the use of gas and motor fuel. The State program "Development of the market of gas and motor fuel in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2013-2023" was approved of. The Program aims at modernization of material and technical base of motor transport and creation of conditions for the priority use by motor vehicles of compressed natural gas as motor fuel. Implementation of the Program will allow to considerably reduce consumption of gas and diesel fuel, thus, providing for the decrease in emission of pollutants from motor vehicles into the air by more than 13 thousand on the account of transfer of 15 thousand motor vehicles to compressed natural gas.  Over the period of 2013 - 2015, "Gazprom transgas Kazan" managed to transfer 233 vehicles to compressed natural gas, which allowed to decrease emissions by 200 tons.
