September is not only the beginning of autumn, but also the beginning of the school year. This month, in the "Ecology in persons" column, we will talk about educators, teachers, mentors – those who have devoted their whole lives to such a difficult, but such a beautiful and noble profession. Today, the heroine of our column is Evgenia Baibakova.

Evgeniya Vasilyevna is an associate professor of the Department of Computer Modeling and Technosphere Safety, a teacher of ecology and life safety at Kazan Innovative University named after V. G.Timiryasov (IEPU). She became interested in environmental problems while studying at Kazan State University. Scientific literature, numerous field practices, an expedition to Lake Baikal – all this as a result determined the final choice of her future work in the field of environmental education. And for more than 20 years she has been teaching, educating and giving a piece of her soul and her heart to students of the university and College of KIU. She transmits to her students not only deep knowledge in the field of ecology, nature management, environmental safety, which are relevant for all specialties, but also love for the beauty of nature. Many students of this amazing teacher have connected their lives with ecology in one way or another. Among her students there are inspectors in the field of environmental protection, laboratory ecologists, ecologists of industrial enterprises and even specialists in the field of environmental journalism! "The student years were wonderful for us in many ways, because we were lucky to have a mentor," her graduates say. They remember with gratitude and warmth not only lectures, but heart-to-heart communication after the call, joint events, within the framework of which not only ecological, but the universal culture that helps in life today was formed. "Evgenia Vasilyevna is a real mentor and teacher with a capital letter, who knows and loves her work," students and graduates say about her.

In addition to teaching, our current heroine is also an expert on grants from NGOs of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan. Evgenia Baibakova is also the author of more than 30 scientific and popular scientific publications in the field of environmental culture, environmental monitoring and waste management. In addition, she is a participant in projects implemented within the framework of republican and federal grants.  For her professionalism, Evgenia Baibakova was awarded a certificate of honor from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, for her contribution to the training of personnel for sustainable urban economy – the gratitude of the Mayor of Kazan, for services to education – the badge of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan.

It is not surprising that Evgenia Vasilyevna connected her life with teaching. A whole family dynasty of teachers has developed: her mother was a wonderful teacher of Russian language and literature, her grandfather was not only a biology teacher, but also the head of the district department of education.  And there is also a third generation of teachers in the person of Evgenia Vasilyevna's nephew, who also connected his life with environmental education.  And Evgenia Vasilyevna is a happy mother of two wonderful sons! She loves to travel with her family, appreciates her mentors, friends, colleagues, and students.  She shares not only her many years of experience, she also shares her inner light.  And her love for the world, nature and people is mutual.
