An interactive eco-path has opened in Kazan, two kilometers from Kazanorgsintez. It draws attention to the peculiarities of forest ecosystems and tells about the role of man in preserving the environment. The eco-path has become part of the large tourist route "Volga Trail", which runs along the right bank of the Volga River in Tatarstan, and the SIBUR Eco-paths project.
In 2023, scientists of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted a study of the forest area and discovered 800 species of fauna and flora, of which more than 70 are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Tatarstan. In addition, long-lived trees and bioindicator plants are found on the eco-path, which can exist only in favorable natural conditions.
"The Ministry of Ecology always supports initiatives aimed at taking care of the environment and protecting our nature. The Minister of Ecology, Alexander Valeryevich Shadrikov, has repeatedly said that any project should go hand in hand with science. It was at the round table that took place in our department that it was proposed to develop an eco-path project in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and today we see what large-scale studies were conducted here and how many Red Book inhabitants can be seen on the trails," said Olga Manidicheva, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Based on the conclusions of scientists, three ecological and educational walking routes with a total length of 11 km were developed. The first route, the Fox route, is focused on children's educational tourism. Its purpose is to observe the life of the forest. Along the 2.5 km long route, the children will find 7 thematic stops with interactive exhibits and information stands. Young travelers will be able to find and "try on" the tracks of forest animals, learn to recognize birds by their voices and look into a real insect hotel.
The eco-path is open to the public. Residents and visitors of the city can get to the starting point of the eco-path by reaching it along a forest road from the side of Lake Glubokoe.
It should be recalled that the preservation of Red Book animals and plants, as well as the popularization of environmental knowledge contribute to the achievement of the goals of the national Ecology project.
