Experts of the COMPASS Foundation were interested in Tatarstan's experience in the reclamation of the Samosyrov landfill within the framework of the national Ecology project

During the meeting, experts from the COMPASS Foundation, representatives of the public, the expert environmental community, regional authorities and businesses on environmental issues got acquainted with the experience of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan on the remediation of accumulated damage facilities. In particular, colleagues were interested in the work performed at the Samosyrovsky landfill and on the silt fields of biological treatment facilities in Kazan.

Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Alexander Kogan, Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Field of Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Roman Maltsev and Director of the Fund for Support and Development of Environmental initiatives "Compass" Tatyana Kovaleva.

The Tatarstan reclamation project is a pilot one, the landfill was eliminated with the introduction of an active degassing system. So, a power plant was installed on the territory of the landfill, which emits electricity.

Work on the silt fields is also being carried out as part of a national project. To date, work is underway at the facility to move silt sediment, fill geotubes, install a geogrid, a layer of crushed stone and lay sand.
