What came first: the egg or the chicken? And how to grow lettuce on the window? Arsk schoolchildren presented their scientific works to ecologists

7 March 2024, Thursday

The scientific and practical conference "From conception to discovery" was held at the Arsky School No. 1 named after E. V. Yezhov. 7 boys and girls from elementary school surprised the jury with their research. The work of the children was evaluated together with the teachers of the school and inspectors of the Northern Department of the Ministry of Ecology.  Many schoolchildren have been conducting their own scientific project for several months in order to actually prove which yogurt is healthier and why, they grew micro greens and even hatched chickens in an incubator.  Here are just a few topics of scientific and practical work:

- "How can you breed and raise baby chickens without a chicken?";

- "What are the differences between a plastic bag and a paper one?";

- "How and how much does a plastic and paper bag decompose?";

- Growing micro greens at home;

- Laboratory studies of various types of yoghurts.

"Research work is a great field of activity for the guys. They solve practical problems, study the world around them, look for answers to questions on their own and determine for themselves what is more interesting for them in life," says Taliya Khuramshina, inspector of the Northern Department of the Ministry of Ecology.

According to the jury, all the works presented at the conference were performed at a very high level. The students demonstrated the depth of knowledge, the ability to analyze the results obtained during research, and showed a creative approach. At the end of the conference, each participant received a diploma from the Ministry of Ecology, and the best works will be presented at regional environmental events in the future.
