Environmentalists took part in complex exercises to eliminate the fuel oil spill in Nizhnekamsk
In Nizhnekamsk, under the leadership of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, comprehensive exercises were held to confirm the readiness of the branch of JSC TGC-16 of the Nizhnekamsk CHP (PTK) for actions to eliminate the fuel oil spill.
The commission included inspectors of the Zakamsky Territorial Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as representatives of Rosprirodnadzor, Rostechnadzor, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan and the Executive Committee of the Nizhnekamsk district.
According to the scenario of the exercises, a fuel spill occurred on the territory of the Nizhnekamsk thermal power plant as a result of damage to the fuel oil storage tank. To eliminate the emergency situation, the forces and means of the non-emergency rescue formation, units of non-emergency civil defense formations, voluntary fire brigades, the FSU-30 object fire department, the professional emergency rescue formation of the ODC of the Republic of Tatarstan, the 67-person object protection detachment were involved. 12 units of special equipment were also involved.
After the completion of work on the localization of the spill, experts began collecting fuel oil. Pumping was carried out using oil collection equipment. Residual oil contamination was removed using sorbents. The exercises were successful, the commission rated them as "satisfactory".
