Maria Kozhevnikova – Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of General Ecology, Deputy Director for Scientific Activity of the Institute of Ecology and Nature Management of Kazan Federal University (KFU).
Her love of ecology started at school. Maria Vladimirovna says that she has always liked such subjects as physics, chemistry and mathematics. It was science that studies the basic natural patterns that helped to combine all her interests and hobbies.
This love led our heroine to KSU named after Ulyanov-Lenin to the Faculty of Ecology. Here she met her other half, her future husband Vladimir, who also fully shares her interests in living science. After university, Maria Vladimirovna worked in the State Unitary Enterprise "Geocenter of the Republic of Tatarstan", in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Information technology and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan. However, after a while she decided to return to her alma mater – now Kazan Federal University to the Institute of Ecology and Nature Management. As students say, they are lucky that such a wonderful teacher, a sincere leader and a charming woman teaches at their university.
"I like to invent and implement new scientific projects that allow me to develop in different directions, I love field research, I communicate with colleagues around the world. The most pleasant thing in my work is to share my experience and knowledge with students. I notice how after my classes my children form an idea of the unity of nature and man, a sense of personal responsibility for the state of the environment," says our teacher.
Maria Vladimirovna is no longer the only teacher in the Kozhevnikov family. Their eldest daughter Daria graduated from the Institute of Ecology and Nature Management of KFU, received a degree in ecology and chose her own path – she works as a teacher at school and tries to instill in children a competent and attentive attitude to themselves and to nature.
Especially for the readers of our column, our heroine sends warm words and wishes to everyone: "I would like to wish everyone to find their vocation in life, to love and appreciate everything that surrounds you. And I wish my students to find their favorite job and realize themselves in the professional field!"
