"Everything we do – we do to improve the environmental well-being of Tatarstan citizens." Alexander Shadrikov spoke about this today in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan

25 January 2022, Tuesday

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov and First Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan - Chief State Inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of Environmental Protection Ayrat Shigapov told about the implementation of environmental protection measures in the Republic of Tatarstan and the results of environmental supervision at a briefing at the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan today.

"Everything we do, change and reclaim – we do to improve the ecological well-being of Tatarstan citizens, the eco-environment," the head of the department noted.

"Over the three years from 2019 to 2021, nature conservation measures worth more than 9.6 billion rubles were implemented in the republic, of which 6.6 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget.  64 more events are planned for 2022-2024.  The total amount of funding is 13.2 billion rubles, of which more than 10 billion are federal budget funds," the minister said.

Let us recall that last year Tatarstan took part in 4 federal projects - these are "Improving the Volga", "Clean Country", "Preservation of unique water bodies" and "Conservation of forests". As a result of environmental protection works, living conditions have been improved for almost 2 million Tatarstan residents.

Within the framework of the national project "Ecology" of the federal project "Improvement of the Volga", the construction (reconstruction) of 13 treatment facilities is planned on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. Of these, 12 objects have already been completed.  In 2021, the reconstruction of the BTFK of Kazan began. The volume of wastewater discharged from this facility is 42% of the total volume of wastewater in the republic. According to the head of the department, the implementation of projects for the reconstruction of sewage treatment plants in three years has already improved the quality of life of more than a million people.  Also in 2021, work on the reclamation of silt fields began ahead of schedule. "The result of these two major projects (reconstruction of the BTFK of Kazan and the reclamation of silt fields) will reduce the negative impact and improve the quality of life of the population not only of the city of Kazan, but also of residents of other settlements located downstream of the Volga," stated Alexander Shadrikov.

In addition to the activities within the framework of the national project "Ecology", the Republic is also carrying out activities under the State Program "Reproduction and use of natural resources". In three years, 41 events were implemented for a total amount of more than 1.3 billion rubles. 15 more events are planned for 2022-2024.

In addition, within the framework of the State Program "Environmental protection, reproduction and use of natural resources of the Republic of Tatarstan", 69 water protection measures were implemented only at the expense of the republican budget for the previous three years. The total amount of work is almost 955 million rubles.

"By reducing the share of pollutants and changing the air quality, reducing polluting effluents, strengthening the banks and building GTS, we are moving step by step towards the main goal - improving the environment, which means improving the ecological well-being of our residents.  After all, caring for the environment begins with every person!", – summed up Alexander Shadrikov.
