28 October 2021, Thursday

Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Egor Tarnavsky, Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor Denis Alexandrov and Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildus Nasyrov made a working trip to the facilities where work is currently underway within the framework of federal projects.  They got acquainted with the progress of work on the reconstruction of biological treatment facilities in Kazan (BTFK). They are being conducted within the framework of the federal project "Improving the Volga" of the national project "Ecology". The expected result is a threefold reduction in polluted wastewater into the Volga. Now 155 people work at the facility, 15 pieces of equipment are involved. The construction of settling tanks, silt pumping stations, substations, administrative and household buildings and other objects of the 1st stage of reconstruction is underway. Let us remind that the reconstruction of the BTFK will take place in three stages.

Then Deputy Minister of Ecology Egor Tarnavsky and Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor Denis Alexandrov inspected the silt fields. They must be liquidated (recultivated) as an object of accumulated environmental damage that poses a threat to the Volga within the framework of the federal project "Improving the Volga" of the national project "Ecology". In the Laishevsky district, Egor Tarnavsky and Denis Alexandrov assessed how the work is going on to preserve unique water bodies. As part of this federal program, the right tributary of the Mesha River is being cleared in the village of Nikolskoye, and a pond is being cleaned in the village of Derzhavino. Now they are finishing cleaning the bottom of silt and other sediments and improving coastal zones.

For reference:

Within the framework of the federal project "Preservation of Unique Water bodies", 3 events are being implemented with a total funding limit for 2021-2022 of 168 million rubles. The total length of the coastline of the treated water bodies is 13.5 km. The design solutions provide for: dredging of bottom sediments with a volume of over 472.5 thousand m3, uprooting of shrubs, as well as compensation for damage to fish stocks.

As a result of the work carried out, the living conditions of over 17.5 thousand people will improve, the capacity of water bodies will increase, which will reduce the negative impact on the surrounding area and eliminate the risk of secondary water pollution.
