The Federal Agency of Water Resources, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Architecture, Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Republic of Tatarstan, Federal State Establishment on Water Management "Sredvolgavodkhoz", Russian Water Association (Moscow), “Kazan Fair” JSC in Kazan will hold the 4th International Specialized Congress and Exhibition “Clean Water. Kazan” from March 27 to March 29, 2013 in the framework of the “Clean Forum. Kazan” forum.

The premiere screening of the film “I’m For the Woodlands” took place in Tatarstan. The presentation was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources together with the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan. Within the framework of their visit to the republic, the film creators – Nikolay Shmatkov, a forest policy coordinator of WWF-Russia and editor-in-chief of the magazine “Sustainable Forest Management”, Artem Tishkov, the main character of the film, Pavel Bezverkhov, a representative of the “Forest Alternative” Company, and Petr Melnik, a tutor of the Moscow State Forest University– visited the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Within the framework of the Year of environmental culture and protection the presentation of the WWF-Russia film “I’m For Woodlands”, confined to the Earth Day and the International Day of Forests, took place in the Academy of Science in the Republic of Tatarstan. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan acted as organizers of the event.

Today in St. Petersburg the XIII International Forum “Ecology of the Big City” started its work. The Forum will take place from March 20 to March 22, 2013 at the Lenexpo Exhibition Complex. It will be the central event of the Year of Environmental Protection. The Forum will be attended by the representatives of environmental agencies of the Russian Federation and its cities (municipalities) as well as by suppliers and producers of equipment and services used to solve environmental problems in urban areas.

Annual global campaign “Earth Hour” of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 20:30 (local time). It is the most mass event in the history of mankind. Every last Saturday of March, millions of people all over the world turn off lights for one hour, because they care for the future of the Earth. Earth Hour is a symbol of careful attitude towards nature, care for limited resources of our planet, and a public appeal to take drastic measures aimed at climate preservation.

The competition “Yäşlär sulışı” (The Breath of the Youth) took place in the Apastovо municipal region of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is an annual youth competition which this time was devoted to the Year of environmental culture and protection in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted tenders for the award of rights to use the following subsurface sites of local significance: “Gorodischensky”in Drozzhanoe municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan aiming at geological survey, exploration and production of zeolite-containing rocks; “Sredne-Sabinsky” at Saby municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan aiming at geological survey, exploration and production of limestones; and “Yamashsky” in Almetyevsk municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan aiming at geological survey, exploration and production of sand. After considering the results, “NURan-Silika” Open Joint Stock Company, “Kolos” Limited Liability Company, and “SpetsKaryerMaster” Limited Liability Company were decided to be winners.

The year 2013 was declared the Year of Environment-oriented Culture and Nature Protection in the Republic of Tatarstan. Due to this fact, official opening of the year took place in Nizhnekamsk. Research and practice ecological conference of pupils “Nature and Us” took place at the Children’s Environmental and Biological Center. Experts of the Trans-Kama Territorial Department, as well as representatives of municipal industrial companies also took active part in the event.

It’s the beginning of spring on the calendar. It means that the week of “Maslenitsa” has come — now it’s time to enjoy ourselves, play and make a feast of Russian pancakes. Trying to preserve traditions of the ancient Slavic holiday “Maslenitsa”, fellow workers of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources saw the winter out and showed a new spring in with dignity.
