Meeting of the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan with the Creators of the Film “I’m For Woodlands”

The premiere screening of the film “I’m For the Woodlands” took place in Tatarstan. The presentation was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources together with the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan. Within the framework of their visit to the republic, the film creators – Nikolay Shmatkov, a forest policy coordinator of WWF-Russia and editor-in-chief of the magazine “Sustainable Forest Management”, Artem Tishkov, the main character of the film, Pavel Bezverkhov, a representative of the “Forest Alternative” Company, and Petr Melnik, a tutor of the Moscow State Forest University– visited the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
They met Artem Sidorov, the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, at the round table. In the course of the meeting guests from Moscow told about the main idea of the film and its purposes. According to them, increase of prestige of forest branch employees was the main task of the film. Artem Sidorov made a point of their work relevance, and, in his turn, told the guests about the activity of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the Year of environmental culture and protection. In particular, he told about such campaigns and contests as “From Father to Son”, “Green Record, “A Cleanliness Lesson”, “Eco-Leader”, “The Man and the Nature”, “March of Parks” which are annually carried out by the Ministry and promote cultural education of younger generation.
At the end of the meeting the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan hoped for further cooperation and presented guests with memorable gifts from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
For the reference: “I’m For Woodlands” is a documentary film of WWF-Russia telling about importance and versatility of professions related to the forest. Youth’s motivation to get corresponding professions is the main objective of the film.
