The Film “I’m For Woodlands” was Presented in Kazan

Within the framework of the Year of environmental culture and protection the presentation of the WWF-Russia film “I’m For Woodlands”, confined to the Earth Day and the International Day of Forests, took place in the Academy of Science in the Republic of Tatarstan. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan acted as organizers of the event.
Tatarstan was the first region, where authors presented their new movie. School pupils and students, environmental movement proponents, tutors of specialized higher educational institutions, and representatives of mass media were invited to the viewing.
Rustem Kamalov, the First Deputy Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, made a welcome speech. He addressed to a younger generation with the request to more actively get involved into the activity on environmental protection and natural resources saving. He also thanked the event organizers and creative film-making crew for an invaluable contribution into environmental culture development.
The film was created by a young and creative team “Arman Group” and the director George Molodtsov. It tells about forests of Russia, careers related to the nature, and the choice of a life journey. Four forest regions of the country, about 6 thousand kilometers of the way, 40 hours of film-shooting, tens of interviews – all this was done to make the film “I’m For Woodlands”.
After the film viewing, its discussion took place. Its creators – Nikolay Shmatkov, a forest policy coordinator of WWF-Russia and editor-in-chief of the magazine “Sustainable Forest Management”, Artem Tishkov, the main character of the film, Pavel Bezverkhov, a representative of the “Forest Alternative” Company, and Petr Melnik, a tutor of the Moscow State Forest University, – told in detail about the process of film-making and difficulties they faced in this process. They answered audience’s questions and hoped that it wouldn’t be the last film devoted to the preservation of the environment.
Inspectors of the Central Department, together with representatives of the Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office and the Office of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography of the Republic of Tatarstan, conducted a survey of the territory of the Zelenodolsk district.
The events were held in the Zainsky district. The commission included inspectors from the Zakamsky Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan received an appeal from residents about violations of environmental legislation in the Yelabuga district. Inspectors from the Kama Department went to the site and confirmed the fact of dumping production and consumption waste into the territory of the Bug River water protection zone.
