The “Ecology of the Big City” Forum is supported by the Government of St. Petersburg, the Government of the Leningrad region, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, industry associations, specialized and business mass media.
Delegations from the Leningrad, Pskov, Murmansk, and Volgograd regions, Krasnoyarsk and Krasnodar Krai, the Republics of Karelia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, Moscow and St. Petersburg, Germany, Austria, and Finland are among participants of the Forum. Tatarstan will be presented by the following specialists of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan: Raisa Shaydullina, the Head of the Department of the State Environmental Expertise and Environmental Impact Standardization, and Andrey Shibayev, the Head of the Central Specialized Inspection of Analytical Monitoring.
The International Forum “Ecology of the Big City” includes a business program, an exhibition program, and exit excursions about environmentally protected sites of St. Petersburg.
The business part of the program will be opened with the conference where issues of urban environmental policy development and implementation will be discussed. During panel discussions, seminars, and round tables the following issues will be raised: production and consumption wastes management; organization of environmental monitoring in urban areas; informational support of environmental activity to support administrative decisions at a city level; pollution clean-up, including damage associated with the previous economic activity (reclamation); implementation of innovative ecological technologies and equipment.
The display space of the International Forum will be divided into several sections:
1) Waste management: technologies and equipment;
2) Innovative ecological technologies and equipment (eco-innovations);
3) Equipment for environmental monitoring (eco-monitoring);
4) Equipment, technologies, and services of land reclamation (eco-reclamation).
The Forum program includes organization of exit excursions about environmentally protected sites, including sites of waste collection and utilization, sites of the state unitary enterprise “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg”, the automated monitoring system of air quality in St. Petersburg, the state intelligence system “The Environmental Passport of St. Petersburg territory”, etc.
The Forum is one of the few congress and exhibition events where participants will get a chance to meet their target audience and to conclude the greatest possible number of business contacts.
