The Day of Ecological Education established in 1991 is celebrated today in Russia. The main aim of the event is to develop ecological culture of the population. Various ecological campaigns both of educational and practical nature are held on this day: exhibitions, conferences and contests are held along with nature protection campaigns aimed at cleaning of parks and landscaping of territories

The damage inflicted on the environment in Petretsy district of Tatarstan amounts to millions of rubles, as it was estimated by ecological specialists. The punishment for grand theft is envisaged according to Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.  Preliminarily, the damage amounted to more than 8 million rubles. Inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan received a report from local fishermen on illegal takeover of the coastal area of Bogorodskoe Lake in Pestretsy district of Kazan.
