Ready for the celebration of May 9th - ecological specialists arranged spring cleaning in the Victory Park

Farid Abdulganiev: "It is no coincidence that we chose this venue - we are to celebrate the Victory Day properly and with pride". A large-scale cleaning campaign was held today in Novo-Savinsky district of Kazan on the territory of the Victory Park. Ecological specialists, volunteers, students and active participants cleaned the territory of the Park and the whole coastal area of the local lake from litter. "A water objectregarded as the specially protected territory of municipal importance is located in the Victory Park. We received a report from a citizen of Kazan saying that polluted sewage waters are discharged into the lake, - informed the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev. - By now, ecological specialists have already carried out the first inspections - the water body is under huge human-induced burden". In order to identify the place of discharge of sewage waters, experts of the Specialized Inspection for Analytical Control drew water samples. The analysis will help find out the source of pollution, informed the Minister. "The water body is a unique object, even the Red Book species are found here, the lake has a potential for self-purification and self-regeneration, we should only help a little, so we will take this water body under special control", acknowledged Farid Abdulganiev.

All in all, 160 people took part in the park-cleaning campaign, and 7 truck loads of litter were removed. "The Victory Park is an excellent place for recreation - parents play with children here, and people go on a picnic here. I only wish people cleaned after themselves", said Head of Administration of Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts of Kazan, Timur Alibaev. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Ecology for the support in holding of the nature protection campaigns. By the way, a yard on 31 Adoratskogo str. was landscaped today - they planted 45 pines.   

During the first month, a total of 740 thousand people have so far participated in Saturday and Wednesday work campaigns in the framework of the two-month sanitary and ecological campaign.
