On this day I sincerely congratulate both professional and amateur fishermen! This holiday unites all those who connected their lives with this demanding profession, and those for whom fishing is a sport, a hobby, a special state of mind, or a way of merging with nature.
Tatarstan is one of the most prolific regions of the federal district, with more than 36,000 water bodies. Our main goal is a rational and responsible approach to natural resources. Today, an important state objective is the competent use, preservation, and augmentation of aquatic biological resources, the further development of fisheries, aquaculture, and fish processing.
Today the rich variety of fish species and picturesque nature of Tatarstan attracts more and more fishermen from all regions of Russia. On the territory of our republic there are numerous competitions and activities for sport fishing, where you can fish with excitement and catch excellent trophies.
 
Today, I want to express a special respect and honour to the families of hereditary fishermen, where grow stronger centuries-old traditions of a care for nature, patriotism, diligence and perseverance. After all, a real fisherman is a friend of nature who knows how to appreciate the true nobility, beauty and purity of the environment. Those who are irresponsible to nature can not be called fishermen.
