#ECOvesna2017 starts in Tatarstan on April 1
The next Saturday a sanitary-ecological two-monthstartsin Tatarstan. This was announced today in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic FaridAbdulganiev. For two months the territory of the republic should be brought into a state that meets the requirements of ecological and sanitary-epidemiological safety of people. According to him, the main emphasis will be placed on identifying places of unauthorized waste disposal and their elimination. Information on identified landfills will be promptly sent to the executive committees of municipal districts for taking measures to eliminate them. All information about the identified landfills will be recorded in the Environmental Map of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister FaridAbdulganiyev said.
In the past 2016, during the two-month period, 93% of 1,817 places of unauthorized waste disposal were liquidated, the rest were liquidated within a year.
Land, water, air, and rail transport is used to identify and suppress violations of environmental legislation. In hard-to-reach places, quadcopterand drones are used. Last year, within the framework of the Year of Water Protection Zones, the control on detection and suppression of violations in the water protection zone and on water was strengthened. This year, work in this direction will continue.
FaridAbdulganiyevcalled 20 districts that completed the last year sanitary-ecological two-month period with the indicator of liquidation100%. Among them are RybnayaSloboda, Saby, Spassk, Tyulyachin districts, Apastovo, Tetyushi, Kamskoye-Ustye, Aznakaevo, Yutazy, Buinsk, Nurlat districts, Zelenodolsk,Almetyevsk, Yelabuga, Sarmanov district, Nizhnekamsk, Muslyumovo, Arsk, Baltasi, Kaybitsy and Aktanysh Municipal area. “An effective mechanism to restore order was a competition “Best Municipal Formation” which included an element of competition among the districts and intensified the efforts of municipalities. The evaluation was based on such criteria as: the number and area of identified and eliminated unauthorized waste disposal sites, the number of violations detected and the reports compiled, the amount of collectedwaste paper and polyethylene packaging, the number of citizens who took part in the activities, the number of well appointedwater protected areas in the district. This year the contest will be continued”, – the Minister of Ecology of Tatarstan said.
For the first time in the history of the Ministry of Ecology, more than a million Tatarstan people took part in the clean-ups last year. About 450 thousand cubic meters of waste were transported to the landfills, more than 600 thousand trees and shrubswere planted. The most active are awarded within the framework of ECO-school, ECO-family, ECO-enterprise, ECO high school/college. The best ECO family of Tatarstan already went on holiday to Crimea. Competitions among active Tatarstan residents will be continued this year in the following categories: Eco-school; ECO-family; ECO-enterprise; ECO high school/college; ECO-kindergartens (for kindergartens); Eco-community (for public environmental organizations, associations); Eco-centre" (for city children’s ecological and biological centres). This year, the competition “100 green corners of Tatarstan”is added, within which the most active kindergartens and schools will receive planting materials for the improvement of their territories to create more green public spaces.
On April 1, one of the first clean-ups will be held in Kazan on the embankment of Lake Kaban. The symbol #ECOvesna2017 will be a swan, whose silhouette is taken as the basis for the emblem. A mass event with music and field kitchen is planned.
