A scheduled meeting of the Steering Committee on carrying out of the Year of Water Protection Areas in the Republic of Tatarstan was held at th the Ministry of Ecology

A scheduled meeting of the Steering Committee on carrying out of the Year of Water Protection Areas in the Republic of Tatarstan was held today at th the Ministry of Ecology. "The year 2016 announced by the Order of the President as the Year of Water Protection Areas in the Republic of Tatarstan, and it is meant to pay special attention to the protection, rational use of the water resource potential, beautification of coastal areas, assurance of public access to the water facilities", acknowledged the Minister Farid Abdulganiev. - "The work is already actively carried out in all directions". The meeting of the Steering Committee was devoted to the review of scientific and practical results of the carried out work, including prevention of water "blooming" during summer and the problem of sunken vessels in the water area of the Kuybyshev and Nizhnekamsk water reservoirs.

 In particular, the following reports were heard:

1. "The results of the study of water safety in the urban environment" - the report of the Head of the Department of Applied Ecology of the Institute for Ecology and Nature Use under the Kazan Federal University, Venera Latypova;
2. "Experience of the international cooperation in the field of thermal processing of organic waste" - a report of the Head of the Department of Engineering Ecology and Rational Use of Natural Resources of the Kazan State Energy University, Roza Dyganova;
3. "On carrying out of work on cleaning of water areas of the Kuybyshev and Nizhnekamsk water reservoirs from sunken and abandoned vessels" - a report of the Marine Chief Engineer of the Subsidiary of "Podvodrechstroy-7" in Volgograd, Vladimir Korobenkov;
4. "Automated system of production ecological control" - a report of the Deputy Director General for Quality Control of the Scientific and Production Enterprise "GKS" LLC, Vitaly Chardymov;
5. "Violation of the mode of operation and protection of water facilities. Execution of authorization documentation" - a report of the Director General of the State Unitary Enterprise 'Scientific and Production Complex on Geology and Use of Mineral Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan", Artem Filippov.

As it was acknowledged by the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, in order to attract attention to the problems of the ecological state of water facilities, development of the culture of nature use, popularization of the ecology-oriented mindset in the young generation, solution of the matters regarding cleaning and beautification of the coastal areas, all the authorities of the nature protection complex under the aegis of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan together with concerned ministries and authorities, mass media, volunteers, public organizations including the Russian Geographical Society, they carry out various campaigns, flashmobs, ecology-related Saturday work campaigns, ecological holidays for children, as well as ecological and educational events. Under the aegis of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, the events on equipment of water protection areas of water facilities are also carried out in municipal units of Tatarstan. The most bright examples include the opening of the touristic recreation zone at the municipal lake of Almetyevsk after large-scale reconstruction, the renovated coastal area of the Kama River in Krasny Kluch village (Nizhnekamsk), as well as the Uritsky Park in Kazan.

The Minister announced the following tasks:

- Construction of purification facilities;

- Use of innovation methods of protection from blue and green algae;

- Development of the system of ecological monitoring;

- Implementation of the efficient system of production control on the premises of companies.

Deputy of the Volga Interregional Nature Protection Prosecutor Oleg Daminov, Kazan Interdistrict Nature Protection Prosecutor Albert Khabirov, Tatar Nature Protection Interdistrict Prosecutor Ilsur Gilmutdibov, members of the Steering Committee, including representatives of specialized ministries and authorities; federal executive authorities in the Republic of Tatarstan, higher educational establishments and scientific organizations, representatives of the Executive Committee of the Municipal unit of Kazan in charge of implementation of the events aimed at beautification of water protection areas on the territory of Kazan, as well as 8 territorial departments of the Ministry participated in the meeting.
