26 August 2024, Monday

Within the framework of the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum, the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center hosted a round table on the topic "Business and Biodiversity" - combining efforts to form an integrated approach to ecosystem conservation. Deputy Minister of Ecology Olga Manidicheva took part in the round table. In her speech, she spoke about the Ministry of Ecology's project to revive the Volga-Kama Saker falcon population.

"Representatives of government and business, scientists, and experts gathered in Kazan today to discuss issues related to the conservation of saker falcons populations. I really hope that the dialogue of professionals will be fruitful and will serve for the benefit of the preservation of unique feathered predators. Falcons are the national treasure of our country, they have been loyal friends and helpers of man for centuries. Today, falconry traditions are being carefully revived in different regions of Russia," Olga Manidicheva noted.

Let us recall that for the second year, with the support of SIBUR, a project has been implemented to revive the Volga-Kama Saker falcon population. This project has become an example of a dialogue between government, business, science and society. It is conducted with the scientific support of the scientific community with the involvement of volunteers. The main goal is to prepare falcons for life in the wild, their reintroduction.

Today, a cooperation agreement was signed at the forum site between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, PJSC Kazanorgsintez, and the Regional Public Fund for Environmental Protection A.I. Shchepovskikh and Capt Taxes and Consulting LLC. The signed agreement provides for assistance in the implementation of the activities of the federal project "Conservation of biological diversity and development of ecological tourism" of the national project "Ecology".
