This year, within the framework of the national project "Ecology" in Tatarstan, it is planned to complete work on 3 events. Within the framework of the federal project "Improvement of the Volga", it is planned to complete work on the reclamation of silt fields of biological treatment facilities in Kazan. Let us recall that for 50 years, almost 4 million cubic meters of precipitation have accumulated here. The area of the silt fields is 100 hectares. At the time of the start of reclamation, the facility had long since exhausted its design capacity, some sections reached 8.5 meters in depth. Given the proximity of the Kuibyshev reservoir, this could pose a real threat both to the river, a source of drinking water, and to the environment as a whole. Reclamation works have been underway since 2021. The total cost of the work is 8 billion 115 million rubles. 66% of all planned work has already been completed. Also, within the framework of the federal project "Improvement of the Volga River", the reconstruction of biological treatment facilities in Kazan will be completed in 2024.

The third event will be the reclamation of the second section of land disturbed by oil pollution in the village of Shemordan in Sabinsky district. Such a negative legacy was inherited by the district from an enterprise that operated back in the 90s of the last century. According to the project, 4,746.3 m2 of contaminated land will be restored, 10 thousand cubic meters of waste, including oil-containing waste, will be removed. The first section of disturbed land has already been restored, and the second section is currently being reclaimed. All work will be completed in 2024.

Also, on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a new federal project for the improvement of water bodies is being formed this year with a deadline for implementation until 2030. As part of the preparation of the project, Tatarstan has formed and sent a list of measures for the environmental improvement of 29 water bodies and the reconstruction of 17 wastewater treatment plants.
