7 September 2023, Thursday

Today, the Federal Agency for Water Resources held a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the modes of operation of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama Cascade.

The meeting was attended by members of the working group, including representatives of Rosrybolovstvo, Rosmorrechflot, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, Roshydromet, JSC SO UES, PJSC RusHydro, JSC Tatenergo, and executive authorities of subjects located within the boundaries of the Volga-Kama basin, including representatives of the Ulyanovsk, Samara, Volgograd, Astrakhan regions.

On behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov, as well as representatives of JSC Tatenergo, took part in the videoconference meeting.

The issue of establishing the operating modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from 11.09.2023 to 10.10.2023 was discussed.

On 07.09.2023, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir is 50.50 m BS.

At the meeting, representatives of Tatarstan and 4 nearby regions spoke in favor of reducing costs through the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric facility to 3,400 thousand cubic meters/day in accordance with the dispatch schedule and Rules for the use of water resources of the Kuibyshev reservoir. Let us recall that now the discharge costs amount to more than 5,000 cubic meters/s.

Representatives of the Astrakhan region asked for 5,000 cubic meters/s.

Rosvodresursami proposed to reduce water consumption through the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric unit from a value of 5,000 cubic meters. m/s to a value of 4400 cubic meters /s, and the water needs of the Astrakhan region should be met at the expense of the resources of the Volgograd reservoir.

According to the forecast calculations, at the expense of 4,400 cubic meters/s. the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir will decrease with less intensity than in the previous period (August 11 – September 10).

The established modes of operation of hydroelectric reservoirs will be published on the official website of Rosvodresurs.
