9 August 2023, Wednesday

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the operation modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama Cascade in the videoconference mode.

The meeting, organized by Rosvodresurs, was attended by members of the working group – representatives of Rosrybolovstvo, Rosmorrechflot, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Roshydromet, JSC "SO UES", PJSC "RusHydro", JSC "Tatenergo" and representatives of the Ulyanovsk, Samara, Volgograd and Astrakhan regions.

During the meeting, the issue of establishing the operating modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from August 11 to September 10 was discussed.

Today, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir is 51.29 m BS. Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov called for reducing costs through the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric unit to 4,000 cubic meters/s. This measure is necessary to maintain the water level in the reservoir at the current level. The position of the Minister of Ecology was supported by representatives of five subjects whose territories also border the Kuibyshev reservoir, as well as a representative of JSC Tatenergo.

However, in order to ensure the operation of water intakes for economic and drinking purposes of the Astrakhan region and agricultural intakes of the Lower Volga, the operating mode of the Kuibyshev reservoir with discharge costs of 5,000 cubic meters/s was adopted by a majority of votes. According to forecast calculations, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir will decrease in the coming period.

The established modes of operation of hydroelectric reservoirs will be published on the official website of Rosvodresurs.
