In Tatarstan, over 30 years, harmful emissions into the atmosphere have decreased by 21.4%

15 June 2022, Wednesday

The analysis of atmospheric air quality for 30 years was presented to journalists today by the Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov.

"The Ministry records a constant tendency to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air. Over the period 1991-2021, emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere decreased by 21.4%. Such data indicate the high efficiency of the environmental work carried out in the republic," the minister said.

So, for example, the volume of emissions from motor vehicles for the specified period decreased from 437 thousand to 119 thousand tons, or by 72.6%. This was achieved thanks to the introduction of an environmentally friendly mode of transport and fuel in the region. The development of electric transport has reduced emissions by 22.8 thousand tons per year. Since 2013, more than 11 thousand cars have been converted to gas equipment.

"Reconstruction of the road network in Kazan allows to reduce emissions by reducing traffic jams on the roads. The development of the transport network will improve the quality of atmospheric air," the minister said.
Also, for several years the Ministry's employees, together with traffic police inspectors of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, have been conducting the operation "Clean Air" in the Republic of Tatarstan. According to the results, since 1994, the share of vehicles with a high content of pollutants in exhaust gases has decreased by 10 times (from 27.5% in 1994 to 2.8% in 2021).

"As for emissions from stationary sources of pollution, they have decreased by 44.5%," the Minister of Ecology noted. As of 2021, the main share among stationary sources in atmospheric air pollution is made by enterprises of the fuel industry - 59%, thermal power engineering - 17% and the petrochemical industry - 21%. At the same time, in general, emissions from the fuel industry into the atmosphere have almost halved in 30 years. Emissions in the thermal power industry have been reduced by five times.

Also, after the press conference, all journalists were shown the principle of operation of the mobile environmental laboratory and AAPCS. The introductory tour was conducted by the head of the central department of the laboratory of GBU "NPO Geocenter RT" Artur Vildanov.

For information: Now the analysis of air pollution is carried out in a continuous mode with the help of 16 automatic air pollution control stations (AAPCS), providing more than 4 million measurements per year. The Ministry also installed equipment for the determination of formaldehyde in the air at AAPCS. Since 2021, it has been at 3 AAPCS and 1 PEL in Nizhnekamsk. And since 2022, such equipment has been installed both in Kazan and in Naberezhnye Chelny (for 2 PEL , 1 AAPCS in Kazan and 1 PEL in Naberezhnye Chelny).
