The campaign to clean the shores and underwater part of Lake Glubokoe in Kazan is timed to the Ecologist's Day, Earth Day and the Marathon of Green Affairs.
The event was held within the framework of the federal project "Preservation of unique water bodies" of the national project "Ecology".
The order on the coastal and underwater zone was brought by divers of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, employees of the Ministry of Ecology, activists of the public movement "It will Be Clean", representatives of the Duma of the Republic of Tatarstan, the local branch of the United Russia Party, the Union of Fathers of the Republic of Tatarstan, volunteers and all concerned residents of Kazan. By joint efforts, a total of 62,000 sq.m of coastal territory and 7,000 sq.m under water were cleared. Deputy Chairman of the Regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society Andrey Agarkov noted: "We have been cleaning Lake Glubokoe since 2005. This is our central point, where we traditionally gather on the International Day of Water Purification. The depth of the lake in some places reaches 20 meters. We are cleaning the underwater area of the beach. Today, 30 divers are taking part in this."
The coastal area was cleaned by schoolchildren, students, environmentalists and volunteers.
"We are very glad that we can help on this day - the Day of the Ecologist and the World Day of Protection of the Environment, our nature. Today, while cleaning in the forest area by the lake, we found a lot of bottles, tires, tires and even a bumper from the car. The clean-up is going great! The weather is very sunny. And we are glad that we have made our contribution and made this coast cleaner," the students of KGASU shared their impressions.
Alexander Shadrikov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, congratulated the participants on the Ecologist's Day and thanked everyone for their activity and concern for the environment. He noted that Tatarstan citizens always support all environmental protection measures and every year the number of participants at voluntary clean-ups is growing. "Every year more than a million of our residents take part in such events. Thank you for coming, bring friends, bring your children and by personal example bring up in them a love for their native nature. The ones who are here today, the ones who are with us, will never litter again. And this is an example of respect for the environment, an example of humanity. These people have a big heart. Those who take care of the environment, they definitely treat people and everything around us differently."
In an hour and a half, the participants of the clean-up collected the garbage the size of half of the body of the KAMAZ.
Let us recall that Earth Day was established by the UN on December 15, 1972. At the same time, at the Stockholm Conference in Sweden, the date of the annual celebration was also set — June 5. In recent years, this day has turned into a global environmental information platform for the entire world community. It is celebrated by millions of people in different countries. The main purpose of the holiday is to draw attention to environmental problems and stimulate activity for its protection.
