Environmentalists issued an order to eliminate the landfill of mercury lamps near Kazan
The message of Kazan residents on social networks about the storage of fluorescent lamps in the village of Sultan-Ai was confirmed. Inspectors of the Central Territorial Administration of the Ministry carried out a visit. During the survey of the territory, unauthorized storage of waste (presumably in the form of mercury or neon lamps) was found near the house on Yasmin Street. The total area of the contaminated site was 30 sq.m., the volume was 1 cubic meter.
A warning was issued to the owner of the land plot — Capital Trust Invest Management Company LLC about the inadmissibility of violations and the need to take measures to eliminate the landfill.
In addition, taking into account the danger of emergencies related to man-made mercury pollution or the threat of such pollution, a letter was sent to the administration of the Sovetsky district of Kazan with a request to organize operational measures for the primary immobilization of spills on site, transportation, disposal of mercury and neutralization of mercury-affected objects.
