Today Tatarstan joined the All-Russian campaign "Water of Russia". It is part of the federal project "Preservation of unique water bodies" within the framework of the national project "Ecology". In Kazan alone, about 300 volunteers went to the riverbank today to clear the coastal territories of garbage. All participants of the eco-campaign were welcomed by First Deputy Minister of Ecology Airat Shigapov, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Honored Coach of Russia Olga Pavlova and Head of the Project Support Directorate of the ANO "National Priorities" Olga Starikova. As noted by Airat Shigapov, the main goal of this large-scale campaign is to instill respect for the environment and water bodies. "To preserve and increase the natural wealth that we have and to pass it on to our children and grandchildren is what we are all here for today. Every year we state that the amount of garbage is decreasing, but the number of volunteers and activists who help us is growing. The victory of Tatarstan in the "Water of Russia" campaign last year is proof of this. 276 thousand residents supported us and cleaned more than 10 thousand kilometers of coastlines," the First Deputy Minister of Ecology thanked everyone for their participation. Olga Pavlova noted that all environmental campaigns are very popular in Tatarstan. Residents have always been concerned about the problem of cleanliness of water, forests, and air. "Even last year, when there were discussions on amendments to the Constitution, a lot of people wrote about deputies paying attention to environmental problems. A huge number of people understand that nature itself sends us signals that we need to be active, take part in environmental campaigns, otherwise we will leave nothing to our descendants." Olga Starikova spoke about how the campaign "Water of Russia" is taking place in other cities. "This year we have thought of this campaign as a collection of points that are awarded to each team for garbage collected on the shore. Points can be exchanged for gifts and keepsakes." The All-Russian campaign was held today in Kazan, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara. And despite the changeable weather, hundreds of residents of these cities came out to celebrate the Volga Day. In Kazan, volunteers and activists did a workout together with Olga Pavlova before the start of cleaning, and then, divided into teams, collected garbage on the shore of the Lower Zarechye beach. On this day, the volunteers were warmed up with hot tea, field cuisine, musical performances and the excitement of competitions. According to the results of the campaign, Kazan took the first place in terms of the number of participants in the campaign and the second in terms of the number of points collected. Thanks to everyone who joined! Environment unites!
