Ecological People’s Control “Our Nature” received the status of a federal information system

The system of people’s control “Our Nature” has received the status of a federal state information system. The corresponding resolution has been signed by the Chairman of the Government Dmitry Medvedev. This system was developed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation with the aim of creating an effective mechanism for public control, monitoring urgent problems, studying the people’s opinions, and creating feedback. Via the Internet portal or mobile application citizens are able to inform the authorities about unauthorized landfills, water pollution facts, illegal deforestation, and other violations in the field of environmental protection, confirming with photos or video showing the precise location of the violation. State and municipal authorities receive notification from people and, in case of confirmation of the fact of violation, carry out measures to eliminate this violation within the limits of the established competence. As a result of the elimination of the violation, the user of the Internet portal is informed through the personal account or by SMS and can assess the work of authorized authorities both at the federal level and at the regional and local level. Currently, the state information system “Our Nature” is being tested in 9 pilot regions of Russia.

In the Republic of Tatarstan, since 2012, the information system “People's Control”, used to report on environmental violations with the attachment of the photo and description. The applicant receives a response within 30 days with the attached photo of the removal of the violation. For the convenience of citizens, in the republic the republican public environmental reception desk operates. All the facts of violation of environmental legislation (illegal mining of common mineral resources, unauthorized landfill, restriction of access to a water body, discharge of pollutants into water, soil, atmospheric air pollution) can be reported:
