Eco-action on Lake Izumrudnoye

To clean the reservoir of debris and draw public attention to environmental issues. With this purpose, an environmental action was held today in the village of Yudino on Lake Izumrudnoye. The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan in cooperation with the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in Tatarstan. All those who came to support the environmental action received gloves and garbage bags. Among the activists there are members of the environmental movement “Budetchisto”, the All-Russia People's Front, the volunteer environmental staff, and the indifferent citizens of the republic. Together, the action participants cleaned the lake shore of garbage. Scuba divers of the Federation of underwater sports of the Republic of Tatarstan and members of the RGS plunged into the water to clean the bottom. “On the beach there are special containers for garbage collection. But, unfortunately, people do not bring their garbage to them leaving it on the beach,” said Almaz Ismagilov, Deputy Head of the Central Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan. In his opinion, the waste is accumulated for one reason – careless holidaymakers. Household waste left by them already made two large unauthorized landfills on the beach. According to the federal law, 131 FL “On general principles of the organization of local self-government in the Russian Federation”, the maintenance in a proper condition is assigned to the administration of the Kirov and Moscow regions. Ecologists sent a letter to their administration with a request to eliminate all reasons and conditions that contributed to the commission of this violation and to take measures to clean up the territory in the shortest possible time.
