Today the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev took part in celebration of Sabantuy in Krasnoyarsk. He greeted the guests of the holiday on behalf of the State Council and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The Minister noted that Sabantuy brings us back to the roots, recalling the enduring values of love for our native land, family hearth, respect for customs. “Holding Sabantuy in Krasnoyarsk contributes to strengthening the unity of the Russian nation through the ethno-cultural development of peoples, preserving and promoting the diversity of their unique cultural heritage,” Farid Abdulganiev emphasized. In the current year the Krasnoyarsk “Sabantuy” became an anniversary – the twentieth in a row.
The national holiday included sports and entertainment events: wrestling on belts, lifting weights and arm-wrestling, tug-of-war, climbing on a pole, running with yokes and buckets of water, running with an egg on a spoon, running in sacks, fighting on a log and other fun competitions. For children, it was organized a children’s playground with contests and quizzes. For the guests of the holiday the national farmsteads from Tatar villages with national cuisine. A bright concert program was presented both by artists from the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Tatarstan.
This year, Sabantuy will be held in 59 regions of the Russian Federation and 32 countries abroad. In the Krasnoyarsk region it will be celebrated this year in 6 cities and 21 rural settlements, thus, the Krasnoyarsk Territory will maintain a long-term leadership among the regions of the Siberian Federal District in terms of the number of Sabantuy holidays. All this became possible due to the joint work of the authorities of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Tatarstan, the municipalities of the region, as well as the work of regional and local Tatar national-cultural autonomies and organizations with the participation of businessmen, activists and creative teams.
