Nature preservation campaigns, youth outreach, collaboration with public organizations and involvement of the youth in nature preservation. The activities of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan and the youth’s environmental projects under their auspices were presented to the young journalists by the head of the environmental education and public relations department Damir Valiullin. ‘Volga’ international center hosted the meeting with the school students qualified from the first audition of the “Altun Kalem” contest for the young journalists, more than 100 wordsmiths from around Tatarstan. The enviromentalists came to visit the children on June, 28, the day dedicated by the forum in ‘Volga’ to the Year of Ecology in Tatarstan. Members of the Russian Geographical Society have also told about their nature preservation activities, particularly water body cleaning. The meeting was also attended by Lyudmila Kartashova, a journalist, honoured environmentalist of Tatarstan, the author of around one hundred ecology-related articles and the book “Rare fauna of Tatarstan”.
The forum was held in the framework of the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces in Tatarstan.
