Eco-patrol on monitoring of river Kazanka started on Ecologist Day in Tatarstan

5 June 2017, Monday

Convenient and eco-friendly. Today, inspectors of the Central Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan together with public inspectors biked along the coastal strip of the Kazanka River. Attention of inspectors was attracted by the coastal zone of the lake near the Kirov dam. Here, environmentalists recorded an unauthorized waste discharge, which is a violation of Art. 8.2. Administrative Code of the Russian Federation: Non-compliance with environmental and sanitary-epidemiological requirements when handling production and consumption wastes, ozone depleting substances, or other dangerous substances. Literally two steps away from the garbage dump, the inspector discovered several more environmental violations, namely parked cars on the coastal zone. Inspectors drafted reports under art. 8.42 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation: Violation of the special regime for the implementation of economic and other activities on the coastal protective strip of a water body, water protection zone of a water body, or the regime for carrying out economic and other activities in the zone of sanitary protection of sources of drinking and domestic water supply.

Having examined the coastal zone of a water body on a bicycle, the representatives of environmental supervision switched to inspection on another mode of transport. Together with representatives of RosPrirodNadzor, RosSelkhozNadzor and the administration of the Vakhitov district, the inspector inspected on the boat the area between the Kirovskaya and Leninskaya dams. “Today’s action to survey the Kazanka River served as the start of the Ecological Patrol. From June 5 to August 31 the commission to monitor the river Kazanka will operate on a weekly basis. The commission consisted of employees of the state bodies of the republic: the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of RT, the Department of RosPrirodNadzor for RT, the Office of the RosSelkhozNadzor for RT, the Office of the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection in RT, the Department of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the Office of the RosReestr in RT, the Office for the Protection and Use of Wildlife, the Chief Veterinary Department of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Inspectorate for Small Boats, the Executive Committee of Kazan, Vysokogorsk and Arsk Districts. Weekly, the commission members will survey coastal river areas in Kazan, Vysokogorsk and Arsk districts for environmental violations. The main attention will be paid to the shore areas where large organizations are located, since enterprises are the main source of pollution. The raids will be conducted both on the water body and on its shoreline. Two main types of transport will be used: bicycle and boat,” said Almaz Ismagilov, deputy head of the Central Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of RT. Anthropogenic impacts on water bodies cause the propagation of blue-green algae, which became toxic when decaying and can lead to the death of fish. Therefore it is very important to carry out serious work to prevent contaminated sewage from entering the lake, the environmentalists emphasized.
