Olga Madison: “Tatarstan leads in Russia in festival “Green Flag”

Tetyush Kindergarten “Skazka” claims their fifth Green Flag. In the preschool center, the VII All-Russian Festival of Pedagogical Ideas of an Environmental Focus was held today within the framework of the International Program “Eco-Schools/Green Flag”. Children demonstrated their ecological knowledge, showed ECO fashion, and performed for the jury a tale “Clogging the environment”. Within the framework of the festival, a round table was held. Presentations were made by representatives of Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Kaliningrad region and the city of Petrozavodsk. Teachers and parents of pupils of the Tetyush kindergarten conducted master classes on making handicrafts from recyclables. The coordinator of the project “Eco-schools/Green Flag” in Russia Olga Madison noted the high attention given to environmental education in Tatarstan. “Each year, the level of the republic in conducting environmental activities is growing. According to the results of 2016, 89 green flags were awarded to educational institutions of Tatarstan. Total for Russia is 308.” Julia Saferova, the leading specialist of the department of environmental education and interaction with public organizations of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted that environmental training is conducted regularly by the Ministry staff: “Ecological literacy, careful attitude to nature should be laid down from early years. Therefore, we give considerable attention to environmental education in our work. The activities are aimed at the formation of ECO culture, which manifests itself in an emotionally positive attitude towards nature and the surrounding world.”
