A working group of law enforcement agencies will enable to promptly resolve particularly pressing environmental issues in Tatarstan. The group will unite the investigative bodies, the prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan and RosPrirodNadzor in RT. The decision was announced today at a meeting of the board of the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan.
Let us recall that in January 2016 an agreement was signed on the order of interaction between the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. As the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of RT noted in his report, as a result of fruitful work with the Investigative Committee, with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Office of the Federal Bailiff Service in the Republic of Tatarstan, amount of administrative fines recovered last year was more than 143 million rubles, which is 360% than in 2015. Offenders were brought to criminal responsibility. On the facts of causing harm to the environment, 24 criminal cases were initiated, which is 2.5 times more than in 2015. Such actions, according to the Minister, will minimize to a minimum the number of offenses committed in the field of environmental protection. Farid Abdulganiev especially noted the well-coordinated work with the Investigative Committee during the Year of Water Protection Zones, where special attention was paid to one of the main causes of pollution of surface waters – non-treated or poorly treated sewage discharge. On the facts of polluted sewage discharge, criminal cases have been opened.
