Damage per million. Criminal case for illegal use of subsoil resources

The criminal case against “black diggers” was instituted under Article 246 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of the rules for the protection of the environment during the execution of works”). In the territory of the Privolzhsky district of Kazan, in the water protection zone of the Kuibyshev reservoir near the village of Dubky-2, extraction was conducted without a license for the use of subsoil. The fact of illegal mining was revealed by the inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan and the employees of the Kazan interdistrict environmental protection prosecutor’s office on February 3. At that time, the total volume of seized sand amounted to almost 6 thousand cubic meters. The offenders made damage to the subsoil in the amount of 970 thousand rubles.

All materials have been transferred to law enforcement agencies. The investigation Department of the Privolzhsky District of Kazan investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan has instituted criminal proceedings.
