Kazan residents can support native city in contest“Capital of the Earth Hour”

World Wildlife Fund WWF Russia announced the start of the contest for the title of the capital of the campaign“Earth Hour”. The city whose residents will most actively participate in the campaign will receive a reward – a statuette engraved with its name and the status of “Capital of the Earth Hour – 2018”. In addition, representatives of the administration of the winning city will be invited to the central site of the campaign in Moscow next year.

To support the capital of Tatarstan and confirm participation in the campaign, the citizens of Kazan need to fulfill the following conditions of the contest:

- mark their location on the map on the official website of the Earth Hour http://60.wwf.ru/#map-world;

- invite friends and acquaintances to do the same;

- establish communities in social networks and to tell about the contest to all residents of Kazan.

When choosing the winner, the number of inhabitants who marked themselves on the map in their city and the population will be taken into account. The results of the contest will be announced on March 29.

Last year, Kazan was among the most active cities in Russia, taking part in the campaign“Earth Hour”. During the action, the architectural and artistic highlighting of the Kazan Kremlin Museum Reserve, the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of RT, the State Council of RT, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of RT, other ministries, the SalikhSaidashev Grand Concert Hall, the IT Park and many others buildings were completely unlit.

Remember, the world’s largest environmental campaign this year will be held on March 25 from 20:30 to 21:30. Heads of all authorities, public authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan, enterprises and organizations, as well as the people of the republic are invited to join the action, and for one hour to turn off architectural and decorative lighting of buildings, structures, lighting of residential houses, electrical devices not related to ensuring the safety of citizens, as well as take other measures aimed at reducing electricity consumption.
