Drinking water: sources, quality and importance. On ECO-lessonstudents of Aleshkin-Saplyn school demonstrated projects on studying water.

“Water is vital. It is needed everywhere – in everyday life, agriculture, and industry. Living creature needs water morethan anything else, excepting oxygen. It is water that is the main source of energy for a man,” say students from the Aleshkin-Saplyn secondary school.

Scientific research of water quality is carried out by the high school students for several years. They demonstrated their environmental projects during an open lesson, attended by AlmazYafizov, representative of the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Republic of Tatarstan, Emil Akhmetov, the head of the Drozhzhanov Municipal Council, and the head of the district education department Elena Milimova. “Scientific research involves the inspection of drinking water on physical and chemical parameters. The simplest indicators (colour, taste, and smell) can be determined at home, while the presence of chemicals can be determined only in laboratory”,young researchers shared their knowledge.

The guests appreciated the work done by the schoolchildren and noted that every resident of the country and the region should have access to quality drinking water. Emil Akhmetov stressed: “In 2017 in Drozhzhanov district it is planned to provide residents with high-quality water within the framework of the “Clean Water” program. The district activities of the Year of Ecologyand Public Spaces also include tree planting, improvement of ravines and springs”.
