Farid Abdulganiev: “Our goal is formation of a new ecological worldview”. Chief Tatarstan ecologist conductedECO-lesson for schoolchildren of Yelabuga

“The key to success in protecting the environment is in the unity of action, in the unity of the worldview. A competent attitude to the environment, preservation of natural resources, ability to appreciate all living”, such words sounded today from the Head of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan FaridAbdulganiev. In Yelabuga, he conducted a lesson for students of the 6th secondary school. The “Lesson of Ecology” was attended both primary and high school students. Therefore, the lesson was held in an interactive form. The Minister described how environmental monitoring is conducted in the Republic of Tatarstan, what measures environmentalists are taking to prevent violations of environmental legislation. Nature needs a careful attitude, any actions against it are unacceptable, FaridAbdulganiev said: “Our republic has diverse and varied nature. The largest rivers of Europe – the Volga and the Kama – meet here. By the river networkdensity our republic ranks first in the Volga region. In Tatarstan there are more than three thousand big and small rivers, where, besides the Volga and Kama, Vyatka and Belaya stand out. Because of them, the republic is sometimes called the country of four rivers. On the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan there are about 200 natural nature sightseeings: reserves, specially protected natural areas, natural monuments, sanctuaries that help preserve the pristine nature, are home to dozens of Red Book birds and animals”, the Minister of Ecology said.

Students, in their turn, taught the head of the Ministry of Ecology their lesson: how to re-use old newspapers and magazines. In the 6th school of Yelabuga student know how to make useful things out of garbage, for example, a bookmark for books or a notebook.

At the end of the lesson, the Minister shared his impressions: “Today Tatarstan is literallycovered with“green wave”. Practically every school in Tatarstan held“Ecology Lessons”, dedicated to the launch of the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces in the Republic. I am pleased to receive today enthusiastic comments from my colleagues of not only environmental authorities. Environmental events were held today by representatives of the Office of the President of the Republic, deputies of the State Council, employees of many ministries and departments of Tatarstan, and republican bodies of executive power. It’s nice that we all came together in the matter of growing a careful attitude to nature. Our goal is the formation of a new ecological worldview, because the upbringing of the younger generation is always a priority”.
