Monitoring of surface waters, preservation of water bodies, and reduction of anthropogenic load. These and other key issues were discussed today by Moscow environmentalists. The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan FaridAbdulganiyev met with Viktor Danilov-Danilyan – director of the Institute of Water, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Natalia Mitina, professor, associate professor of industry and natural resource management of the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. Viktor Danilov-Danilyanis the winner of the Russian Federation Award in the field of science and technology “For the development and creation of environmental complex that includes a specialized set of monitoring the ecological state of the aquatic environment and the parent vessel”. Natalya Mitina develops a theme aimed to create a methodology for determining the natural resource potential of marine and freshwater landscapes, identifying permissible anthropogenic pressure on their ecosystems. Her findings are unique and have no analogues in the world.
Minister FaridAbdulganiyev said that in Tatarstan the surface waters pollution is monitored on a regular base. Water bodies in the area of direct influence of wastewaterare especially monitored. For effective monitoring of surface water pollution are actively used mobile laboratories of the Tatarstan Ministry of Ecology, which allow for fast analysis. With the patrol boat of eco-analytical control “Flamingo” it is possible to monitor the surface water quality byhydrochemical and hydrophysical indicators; to probe the bottom and the water column, using echolocation to detect unauthorized discharge; to determine the exact location of wastewater discharge; to sample water and sediments for further analysis in stationary laboratories.
