143 millionroubles, 24 criminal cases –punishment for nature offence. Ministry of Ecology announced results for 2016
7 thousand violations of environmental legislation (eliminated 97%), 143 million roubles of fines and compensation (360% of 2015), 24 criminal cases. These are the results of supervisory activities of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2016. They were announced today by Minister FaridAbdulganiyevat a joint session of the two environmental departments, the Ministry of Ecology and RosPrirodNadzor in Tatarstan. These results are much better than in previous years. Competence of professionals, special vehicles and equipment, boats, purchased with the support of the Tatarstan Government, unmanned aerial vehicles, satellite geodetic equipment, implementation of the Center of public inspectors – all this, according to FaridAbdulganiev, providedeffective work of employees Ministry of Ecology. Particular attention is given to water protection zones. By nowthe water bodies of Tatarstan havethe establishedboundaries which enables to eliminate their abuse; 100% of water bodies within the regional settlementshave been inspected. 432 facts of public access restrictions to the water bodies of regional significancehave been revealed, and 365 illegal objects have been demolished.
As for the identification of unauthorized waste disposal sites, for the year the inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology discovered 2000sites, 98% have been eliminated. The total amount of fines, the value compensation on claims and cases amounted to about 200 million roubles. A special attention was paidto “black miners”. 244 facts wererevealed in 2016. Damage to mineral resources amounted to about 240 million roubles. As a result of collaboration with the law enforcement bodies, 21criminal cases wereopened, three times as much as in 2015. Verdicts have been already delivered. According to environmentalists, this will significantly reduce unlicensed mining.
The key phrases of the Minister were: “eco-oriented economymanagement”, “territorial system of the environmentmonitoring”, “environmental monitoring”, “local monitoringsystems”. An integrated approach, as noted byAbdulganiev, helped to reduce emissions by 8.5 thousand tons. “It was done on the background of increased GRP”, – stressed the Minister. Implementation of air protection measures by enterprises (reduction of emissions from vehicles by 4.5 tons), the State program on gas-engine fuel, implementation of the second phase of program of equipping gas stations with motor fuel vapours capture and recovery systems– all this had a positive impact on the air condition in the republic. In anticipation of the FIFA Confederations Cup and the World Cupin Kazanthe works will be continued.
