The operatingcompany “Orekhovka”, which services this treatment plant, was repeatedly brought to justice, as noted by the deputy head of the Central Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan AlmazIsmagilov. In April, based on the materials submitted by the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan,the investigator-criminalist of the criminology department of the Investigations Office of the Investigations Committee of Russia in Tatarstan ordered to institute criminal proceedings under Article 247, part. 2 of the Criminal Code “Violation of rules for the treatment of environmentally hazardous substances and waste”. The central specialized inspection of the Ministry of Ecology repeatedly sampledthe water and revealed exceeding the maximum allowable concentrations of pollutants (ammonium ion, phosphate ion, manganese, oil, phenol, anionic surfactants). However, to date the operation company has not taken steps to address the violations. The damage caused to the lake was estimated to 4 million roubles. The materials have been sent to the prosecutor office for theprosecutor decision.
