Ultramarine snow in Zalesnaya Street. The cause of the bright spot appearance is being investigated by the Ministry of Ecology inspectors.

         “A blue lagoon” – that was the name given by the locals to the spot found in Zalesnaya Street in Kazan. To determine exactly what substance spilled on the soil and what damage to the environment it might inflict, inspectors of the Central Territorial Department together with the experts of the Central Special Purpose Inspectorate of Analytical Monitoring in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan visited the scene.Samples were taken of the ultramarine-coloured substance and of the contaminated soil. Administrative investigation was initiated, in the course of which reasons for the discharge of untreated waste water onto local terrain will be discovered and persons implicated in the infraction will be identified. According to the locals, Vodokanal (Municipal Enterprise of Water Supply and Waste Water Treatment) had carried out work to eliminate the blockage in the sewage collector the day before.Reliability of information is being assessed.
