The Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation has launched a website of the добродела.рфcampaign, where citizens can report on the main ecological problems in their regions, as the official website of the Chamber says. The participants of the #МарафонДобрыхДел (#Good Deed Marathon) campaign in 2017 will be requested to solve these problems, Elena Sutormina, the project initiator, Head of the Commission on Development of Public Diplomacy and Support of Russian Nationals Abroad, said. «Year of ecology is an excellent initiative, which primarily implies that the national leaders are concerned with the issues of environmental protection. However, the state cannot solve all the problems. It’s banal but it primarily depends on the citizens’ attitude. The ecological situation differs for every region that’s why we decided that before launching the project we would collect people’s opinion on what problems, in their view, must be solved today first and foremost. Todothis, a special form was opened on the website добродела.рф whereby anyone can send their proposals and issues to our Commission,” Elena Sutormina remarked, underlining that the campaign will also help demonstrate how committing moderate actions can essentially changethe picture of the ecological situation within one’s district, city or even the whole region. According to her, the organizers will also get nonprofit organizations dealing with ecological issues largely involved. “Nonprofit organizations have many years of experience that’s why, by all means, our team will make use of the best practices and popularize them. The main objective is not only to identify active citizens but also make like this so that after the project is over, people would follow on ecology by using the methods and schemes we would offer them within the campaign,” the public woman concluded.
In 2016, more than 7,000 Russians from 250 cities of the country participated in the campaign. The organizers were the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation together with the Association of Volunteer Centres, Rospatriottsentr (Russian Patriotic Centre) and the Russian Peace Foundation.
