Chief State Inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan, FayazShakirov: "Within the framework of the Year of water protection areas, the Ministry of Ecology actively implements supervisory measures with regard to water bodies of regional importance". A book on water protection areas was presented today at the State Council of Tatarstan.

A book "Water protection areas of the Republic of Tatarstan: rights and obligations of each of us" was presented today at the Small hall of the Parliament. The publication was elaborated within the "Year of water protection areas" announced by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Minnikhanov. In the beginning of the presentation, the Chairperson of the Committee for Ecology, Nature Use, Agricultural, Industrial, and Food Policy, Takhir Khadeev, made a welcoming address and acknowledged the inreasing activity of the youth, including students, in the public ecological movement. The Deputy familiarized in detail with the information and communication publication devoted to the burning issues related to the water use ecology in the Republic of Tatarstan. It contains both theoretical and practical information on the use of surface waters and related water protection areas in the region. Deputy Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan - Chief State Inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan for Nature Protection, Fayaz Shakirov, reported on the results of supervisory measures implemented by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. "First of all, the task is set to examine and clean the water bodies with marked boundaries of water protection areas. The borders have been marked for 82 water bodies of regional importance with total length of the coastal area of 7,909 km. In 2016, the similar work was carried out with regard to 7 water bodies. At present, a total of 97% of the specified water bodies have already been inspected.Following the results of the supervisory activity, the Ministry revealed 1,384 violations of the water protection legislation, and the fines were imposed on the offenders in the amount of more than 7 million rubles", reported Fayaz Shakirov. -"We continue the work, and the Ministry of Ecology currently has all the required machinery, motor boats, motor vehicles and the equipment needed to solve the tasks".
