Air protection was today's main topic discussed at the All-Russian Conference named after Schepovskikh

The ХI All-Russian Research to Practice Conference "Industrial Ecology and Safety" named after Anatoly Ivanovich Schepovskikh was held today at the Kazan Fair, in the Conference Hall "Kama" in memory of the First Minister for Nature Protection in the Republic of Tatarstan. Year after year the event is held by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the Tatar Oil, Gas and Chemical Forum. "Constant attraction of attention of the representatives of state authorities, business communities and public to the matters of assurance of ecological safety on the basis of the state-of-art developments of Russian and foreign companies and scientific organizations will allow to solve the problems accumulated in this field more successfully", acknowledged the Minister for Ecology, Farid Abdulganiev, in his welcoming speech. According to him, the conferences held over the past years proved their efficiency and productivity promoting fruitful cooperation of specialists in various fields of industry and science in their joint activity related to solution of various tasks in the field of ecological safety and rational use of natural resources.  "The air quality issue worries every 4th person out of 5 interrogated citizens of Tatarstan", noted Farid Abdulganiev. - "Both scientists and ecological specialists from all over the country offer their ways of solving the problem. Innovations will allow the Republic to maintain the leading position with regard to ecological parameters. Owing to the carried out work, Nizhnekamsk was excluded from the list of cities with the largest man-induced impact, while Kazan is among leaders in the list of cities with the most favorable air quality". Alexander SOLOVYANOV, Deputy Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution All-Russian Research and Development Institute "Ecology", also highly appraised the work of his colleagues from Tatarstan.

"The air requires significant measures", he said, - "a large amount of cars results in pollution of cities. By the way, the project on the transfer of transportation means to gas and motor fuel is being successfully implemented, which significantly improves the air quality".

The conference included the leading scientists and practitioners in the field of environment protection in the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the largest industrial companies from the Republic of Tatarstan and other regions of the country.

The following matters were on the agenda of the event:

Monitoring of the environment:

- regional systems for the environment monitoring;

- production systems for the environment monitoring;

Ecological technologies:

- innovation technologies, machinery and equipment on nature protection;

- ecology of industrial and agricultural production.

State regulation in the field of environment protection:

- the experience of regions;

- new approaches in the context of economic growth;

Ecology of urbanized territories:

- the modern state and tendencies of the development of metropolitan cities;

A collection of papers will be issued at the end of the conference.

The authors of the best oral presentations were awarded with the medals of A.I. Schepovskikh. The first medal went to the wife of Anatoly Ivanovich, Nina Schepovskikh.
