Farid Abdulganiev: "A total of 164 cases were initiated with regard to the facts of restriction of access to water bodies, 36 claims on elimination of violations were referred to judicial authorities".

Inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology have revealed 1,172 violations of the water protection legislation this year. The fines were imposed to the amount of over 6 mln rub. Such figures were announced today by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, at the interdepartmental meeting held today at the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan under the chairmanship of Ildus Nafikov. The matters related to implementation of joint inspections in the field of water use by the prosecution authorities were on the agenda. Moreover, the results of prosecutor's investigations in the field of laws on production and consumption waste were also discussed. 

The meeting included Volga Interregional Nature Protection Prosecutor Veniamin Selifanov, heads of state authorities, ministries, bodies, controlling and municipal authorities of the Republic, heads of structural subdivisions of the Administrative Office of the Republican Prosecutor's Office, as well as prosecutors of cities, districts and specialized prosecutor's offices.  Prosecutors of cities and districts participated in the event in the video conference mode.

As for the revelation of facts of restriction of access to water bodies, inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology drew up164 administrative protocols, while 36 claims on elimination of violations were referred to judicial authorities. "80% of violations, i.e. fencing, are eliminated voluntarily within the time limits set by the instruction", acknowledged the Minister, Farid Abdulganiev.

The work on revelation of the facts of movement and parking of motor vehicles in the water protection area and unauthorized use of the water body, or the violations of the terms of use is also carried out. Judicial authorities have so far made several rulings on suspension of the activity of 5 companies that committed such violations according to the materials of the Ministry. Within the framework of the Year of water protection areas, special attention is paid to supervision over extraction of common mineral resources in the water areas of the Vyatka, the Volga, and the Kama rivers together with fellow workers of the Kazan Line Authority of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on Transport. Currently, 59 deposits of mineral resources have been inspected in the water area of the Kuybyshev and Nizhnekamsk Reservoir, and 15 violations have so far been detected. Over illegal extraction in Elabuga district on the Kama River and in Mamadysh district on the Vyatka River according to the Ministry's materials, a total of 4 criminal cases have so far been initiated. Total damage amounted to about 40 mln. rubles, as informed the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
