Information on mass death of fish at Zainsk fishery was confirmed, and it was caused by high water temperature and low oxygen level

The Ministry of Ecology received information on mass death of fish at "Zainsk fishery" LLC. In order to find out the cause, specialists of the Trans-Kama Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan carried out water analysis in Zainsk Reservoir located on the Stepnoy Zay river; water was sampled at three sites. During the analysis it was established that water temperature in the area of discharge from the State District Power Station amounted to 39°C, while average oxygen level was 2.5 mg/l (normal value is 6-8 mg/l, threshold allowable concentration for fisheries).
