A report was received today by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan from the citizens of the village on unpleasant odors coming from the nearest forest. Inspectors of the Central Specialized Inspection of Analytical Control under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan immediately went to visit the site. According to the preliminary version, polluted waters were discharged from the drainage well of the country side hotel located not far from the site of discharge. The area of the polluted land amounted to 2,500 sq. meters. "Samples of polluted and background soil, as well as sewage water samples were drawn. After all the analyses, the materials will be referred to the law enforcement agencies", informed Almaz Zakirov, Head of the State Inspection for Ecological Surveillance.
The offender will be held liable under Article 8.6 "Land damage" (a fine is envisaged up to 80 thousand rubles) and/or Article 8.31 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of the sanitary safety rules in forests" (a fine is envisaged up to 300 thousand rubles).
